FESSENDEN, N.D. (AP) — A former North Dakota sheriff accused of dealing methamphetamine and bribery has been sentenced to 25 days of home confinement.

Forty-two-year-old Johnny Lawson in February agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor counts of falsely reporting to law enforcement and consumption of a controlled substance. Prosecutors in return dropped the more serious charges.

Lawson was sentenced Thursday in a 3 ½-hour hearing.
