VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Eastern Dakota Conference Softball Tournament begins Thursday at West Fargo Sheyenne High School.

Expectations are high this season for Valley City, they ended the regular season 12-2 and 7-2 in the region to finish second behind West Fargo and in the final Class A poll of the year they were ranked 3rd.

Despite some early offensive struggles, The Hi-Liners started the season 7-0 before suffering a loss to Fargo North. Over their last 6 games they went 5-1. With the shortened season there was a bigger emphases on starting the season strong, senior McKenna Taylor feels that the team answered the call

As the 2 seed The Hi-Liners draw the 7th seed in Grand Forks Central. Valley City played The Knights early in the season and needed a come back to win 9-5. Taylor says Valley City needs to get the bats going early to secure the first round win
