JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In a galaxy far, far away, thousands dress as their favorite bad guys from the Star Wars universe.

The 501st Legion is a non-profit that helps promote interest in Star Wars by wearing costumes, facilitates the use of the costumes, and contributes through fundraising, charity work, and volunteering.

Nathan Quick is a member of the 501st Legion from Jamestown. He’s part of Central Garrison, which includes roughly 216 members from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa. He says overall, the legion has over 15,000 members on all 7 continents in the world.

Quick says they’ll have members from around the region at the Bison 6 Cinemas on Thursday from 5 to 8 as part of the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie premiere.

As the love for the movie franchise continues to grow, Quick says members of the 501st Legion also continues to grow.
