OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Spring baseball at Oakes High has only been around for a few seasons, and to this point, the Tornadoes have not advanced further than the regional semifinals during the post-season.

This evening at Hendrickson Field in Enderlin, Oakes starts at the semifinal round after winning the regional regular season championship for the first time; thus earning a quarterfinal bye. Oakes’ second year head coach Greg Dobitz says the regular season was one to be proud of, but the journey is far from over.

The 9-2 Tornadoes will play in the fourth scheduled game tonight against either Enderlin/Maple Valley or LaMoure-Litchville/Marion. Dobitz says his team could still improve in a couple of ways; one on each side of the spectrum.

Coverage on The Tornado KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM, Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com starts this evening around 6:45 p.m., weather pending.
