BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The controversial Streetscape project in Valley City is on hold following the bid opening process on Friday in Bismarck at the NDDOT offices.
Valley City Mayor Dave Carlsrud said there was only one bid submitted and that bid was more than $400,000 dollars over the projected city estimate. He said city officials will discuss their options with the NDDOT. Carlsrud said depending on DOT approval, the city will see if the bids can be let again early next year.
In April, the city of Valley City approved of the Central Avenue and 3rd Avenue Southeast street improvement projects. More details will be released later.
Meanwhile, the Downtown Streetscape Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 15th at 7:30am in the Valley City Hall Commission Chambers. Some of the items on the agenda include a discussion of the current project, discussing the status of Phase II, review concrete choices and bench placement. The public is encouraged to attend.
