JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Friends of the James River Valley Library System and the Arts Center are hosting a one-of-a-kind Raggedy Ann and Andy Sale/Fundraiser.
Raggedy Ann and Andy’s history dates back to the early 1900s, when artist and political cartoonist John Barton Gruelle gave his daughter a faceless ragdoll he found in the attic. Gruelle drew a face on the doll and named her Raggedy Anne. Quickly after, his daughter fell in love with the doll, and a phenomenon was born.
Friends of the JRV Library System and the Arts Center will bring this history back to life during their fundraiser, which will feature classic dolls, wall décor, pictures, lamps, jewelry, mugs, towels, and more. Guest who attend the Friday night sale are invited to enjoy free wine while browsing. All proceeds will benefit Friends of the JRV Library System and the Arts Center.
The sale will take place at the Jamestown Arts Center Gallery on Friday, May 11 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
More information on the sale/fundraiser can be obtained by contacting Bill Kennedy at 701-252-2217.
