JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As part of Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week, Stutsman County will be participating in a statewide siren test this morning.

The week is set to remind the public of the dangers associated with severe summer weather. Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist says there is a wide variety of severe weather that could strike at any time in the state.

In order to prepare for the inevitable severe weather, Bergquist says the county is going to test their emergency sirens starting at around 11:15 AM.

Bergquist says this test will ensure that the sirens will be ready when they need to be used. He says another way residents of Stutsman County can stay on top of severe summer weather is by signing up for CodeRED alerts on their phones for free.

As a reminder, Bergquist says the most important thing residents can do is develop a plan.
