VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A number of people attended the city commission meeting in Valley City seeking answers to questions about a downtown street improvement project.

Former mayor Bob Werkhoven questioned the funding process. He asked why some of the proposed funding is going to come out of the city’s utility budget. City resident Lloyd Nelson speaks first followed by Werkhoven’s comments.

Nelson also asked why the two petitions they submitted to pursue a vote on this project were rejected. He said a number of residents believe they have a right to vote on a project that involves city funding.

Valley City resident Gary Schlagel addressed several concerns he had with the Central Avenue improvement project.
