VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Vikings brought the bats yesterday in a 13-7 non conference win over The University of Minnesota Morris yesterday at Charlie Brown Field.
VCSU had 3 home runs and 2 doubles while pounding out 17 hits. Tyler Ukestad had a big day the plate going 4 for 5 with a home run and 6 RBIs with 2 stolen bases. Manny Levya and Brady Smith also hit home runs.
Ryan Ellena worked 3 innings in his first start of the season surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits. Derek Stiedley pitched 5 innings of relief to earn the win, he struck out 4. Bryce Karl closed out the game in the 9th.
Brady Jergenson took the loss for The Cougars, he pitched the first 5 innings allowing 6 earned runs on 10 hits with 7 strike outs. Trent Johnson and Nash Kramer both drove in 2 runs for UMM.
VCSU, now 14-23, host Mayville State in a pair of conference games Friday at Charlie Brown Field.
