FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Valley City Hi-liners baseball finally got their season under way Monday night with a trip to Fargo to take on Fargo North.  In a well played and well pitched game, Fargo North came out on top by a 1-0 score.

Both pitchers were locked in from the start with each keeping the other team off the scoreboard through 6 innings. In the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs and winning run on 2nd base, the 1 and only error of the game would come to haunt The Hi-Liners and an errant throw got away allowing the winning run to score.

A total of 6 total hits was all the 2 teams would combine for in the game. Briar Harvey and Devin Anderson would be the only ones to collect a hit with each getting 1 in the contest.

On the Mound Harvey was good.  He worked himself out of a couple sticky spots to keep the Spartans off the board.  Harvey would throw 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up the lone unearned run on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6.

In a non region game to follow Fargo North won 4-0 in 5 innings.  Easton Hesch and Mitchel Taylor combine for the pitching duties only giving up 2 earned runs in the game.

Next action for the Hi-Liners will be Thursday as they head to Aberdeen for a pair of games.
