JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After more than 40 years in city government, former Jamestown City Administrator Jeff Fuchs announced his retirement, leading the city to search for his replacement.

Sarah Hellekson has now been serving in the administrator position for nearly 2 months. A graduate from the University of North Dakota, she’s worked in several different city capacities in her career.

She has also worked with Job Service North Dakota and the city of Grand Forks. Hellekson says her first focus in the administrator position is working on the 2019 budgets.

Hellekson says she is also working on streamlining and looking for any inefficiencies within the city departments, programs and facilities.

While taking over the position from Fuchs and his 40 years of experience was daunting, Hellekson says there has been a lot of support from him and the staff as she adapts to the position.

Hellekson says while in the position, she will continue looking at the big picture view and direction of Jamestown and keep trusting individuals with their daily operations. She points out that she will continue to meet with area entities to help them and the city grow and move forward.
