MADISON, SD (PlayNorthStar.com) – The University of Jamestown had a softball and baseball player honored by the North Star Athletic Association this week for their play.
Meghan Ramage (JR/Grand Forks, ND) has been named North Star Athletic Association Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Ramage had an impressive day at the plate for the 16th-ranked Jimmies against Waldorf (Iowa) on Thursday. In UJ’s 15-5, 5-inning win, she was 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, and five RBI, and also scored three times. Ramage followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance with a triple and an RBI in UJ’s 11-1 win in five innings. She extended her hitting streak to 10 games, and has now hit safely in 17 of her last 19 contests, raising her average to .415 on the year.
Jamestown is scheduled to play a home-and-home series with Mayville State (N.D.) Saturday and Sunday.
Shane Groth (JR/Sisters, OR) has been named North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Groth scattered six hits and allowed two runs in a 5-2 complete game victory for the 15th-ranked Jimmies over Waldorf (Iowa) on Thursday. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and did not issue a walk in authoring his first complete game of the season. Groth improved to 4-1 overall with a 1.97 earned run average in six starts, and has a 37:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 32 innings.
The Jimmies are scheduled to host Mayville State (N.D.) in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday.
