VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It is the same story for most of the track and field teams in the state. Be patient, the outdoor season will be here, someday.

But while teams wait for the snow to melt and the weather to get warmer, the gyms will have to do for practice. And that is what the Valley City Hi-Liners are doing, practicing indoors and going to as many indoor meets as possible. They were to be at an outdoor meet in Oakes today, but instead they are heading to Grand Forks for another indoor meet.

Head Coach Trevor Bakalar says the meets are great for getting better, but for certain events, they really need to be outside.

On Friday, April 6th, the Hi-Liners competed in the EDC Indoor Championships. With several athletes setting personal bests, coach Bakalar says that was one of the better meets of the season.

The next scheduled outdoor meet is next Tuesday in Grand Forks.
