LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The LaMoure Lions and a group of community members are working to revitalize Sunset Park in LaMoure.
As a major piece of the community, Sunset Park has provided a location for events and gatherings for numerous years. Now the park is in dire need of revitalization. Leah Meisch is a member of group working to update the park.
Julie Waldie has been working on the project for the past 4 years. She says they are very excited for the future plans they have come up with for the park.
Waldie says they have set 4 separate phases for the project, each one focusing on one aspect of revitalization until it’s all completed. Phases include play equipment, walking path, community swimming pool and off-street parking.
Waldie says it will be a long project, but with community and area support, they’ll reach their goals in no time.
The first phase will be adding innovative play equipment for children’s health and learning with a fundraising goal of $150,000. The group hopes to have it finished by the spring or summer of 2018.
As part of their fundraising goal, the group has planned a Dueling Pianos event on Saturday, April 14th at the Centerfield Bar & Grill in LaMoure. Funds will also benefit Imagination Library of LaMoure.
