NEW ROCKFORD, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Sheyenne/New Rockford High School Baseball team has already postponed a regular season game twice this season and next week April 9th through the 14th, as many as three games have been or more than likely will be postponed or cancelled due to the cold and snowy weather this spring.  It’s been the norm this year for many baseball teams and area spring sports teams as the weather just won’t cooperate.  With a day time high of 16 degrees in the forecast on Friday and snow in the forecast for the weekend, it looks like the poor and snowy field conditions won’t improve any time soon.  But Head Coach Elliot Belquist, currently entering his 12th year for the SNR Blacksox, says his team along with the track team and golf teams are managing to get their practices in, inside the gym.

Being indoors has helped the hitters for the Blacksox.

Belquist talks about the early April schedule.

Last year the Blacksox finished in second place in the Region III tourney, dropping to Carrington in the championship. SNR looks to replace five Seniors lost to graduation last year, but will have to do it without any Seniors on the roster this year and just three Juniors and lots of younger players.

Coach Belquist talks about a couple of starters for SNR.

SNR competes in Class B Region III with Carrington, Medina/Pingree/Buchanan, Dakota Prairie/Midkota/GCC and Kidder County.
