JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown met in regular session Monday, April 2nd to address several items before the council.

Several bids were approved including work on the Jamestown Civic Center Telescoping Stand Replacement, the Frontier Village Retaining Wall Project and seal coat, patching, construction & reconstruction in 2018. Several first readings of new ordinances were held as well which included city code pertaining to the Forestry Department and amending and reenacting minor subdivision sections on the code.

Another first reading was held regarding the special use permits for C-2, M-2, and A-1 Districts to allow special use zoning for Compassionate Care Centers, or medical marijuana dispensaries. Mayor Katie Andersen says they are referred to as Compassionate Care Centers and the ordinance will allow for a dispensary to locate within the city. With only 2 Manufacturing Centers planned in the state, Councilman Dan Buchanan commented that he doesn’t believe Jamestown will be a location considered for one of those.

Mayor Andersen disagreed.

Mayor Andersen says most regulation will happen through the state health department and this was creating a definition for a manufacturing center and dispensary to locate within the city. The first reading was approved.
