Henry “Hank” Amann, age 95, of Valley City, ND, died Wednesday, March 28th at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 5th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Dazey, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery near Dazey, ND.

Henry “Hank” Joseph Amann, the son of Gebhard and Theresa (Berger) Amann, was born September 22, 1922 on the family farm near Dazey, ND. Hank grew up in the Dazey area and attended Sibley Trail School. After receiving his education, Hank worked for various farmers in the Dazey area before entering the US Army on April 13, 1946 and served his country during World War II. After his discharge on September 23, 1947, Hank returned to the Dazey, ND area where he farmed began farming on his own. On May 31, 1975, he married Delores (Brobst) Amann. The couple farmed near Dazey until moving into Valley City in 1991. Hank was still actively farming and driving combine during harvest, 2017.

Hank enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and playing and watching sports of all kinds. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Choir, St. Mary’s Church Board, the Sibley Trail Sodbusters, VFW Post #2764, American Legion Post #3 and the Valley City Eagles.

Survived by his wife, Delores; children Kim (Denise) Amann, Rogers, Jolene (Jeff) Payne, Aurora, CO and Neil (Ronda) Amann, Dazey; grandchildren Kody, Dusty, Riley and Caden; six great-grandchildren; sisters Mary (Willis) Pritchard, Oakes, Gurt (Chuck) Solum, Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, Richard, Hugo and Joseph; sisters, Irene Kathryn, and Irene Francis.
