BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Saturday March 24, at the Bismarck Civic Center 3 Express wrestlers won state individual titles.

Koye Grebel a school boy (12-13yr olds) at 87 lbs, won by a 5-0 decision in the championship match. Koye won by fall in his quarter and semi-final matches. This is Koye’s 2nd ND State Folkstyle youth title.

Ryer Muske an intermediate (9-10yr old) at 105 lbs, won by fall in 44 seconds of his championship match. Ryer won all four rounds by fall in dominant fashion and this is Ryer’s 2nd ND State Folkstyle youth title.

Koltyn Grebel a novice (10-11yrs) at 74 lb division secured his 4th ND State Folkstyle youth championship by pinning his way through his bracket with 4 straight pins. He pinned last season’s State champ in the championship match with 23 seconds into the 2nd period.

Also making the finals in their respective divisions but falling a bit short was Will Schwehr (140 lb novice) who lost a heartbreaking 7-5 decision in overtime.

Express had two outstanding performances from wrestlers who lost in the early rounds but battled back in the consolation side of their brackets to win ‘true second place’ matches to take 2nd place.

Zack Anderson a bantam (6-7yrs old) 49 lb, lost his 2nd match of the tournament and went on the win 7 consecutive matches by fall, including avenging his only loss, for true 2nd place.

Chase Coghlan a bantam 70 lb, lost his first match to the division’s eventual champion and went on a seven match win streak of his own (all by fall). His seventh pin secured true 2nd place.

Coghlan and Anderson were the top two pinners of the tournament which had over 950 participants.
As a team, Express Wrestling of VC won the ND State small division (for clubs with under 30 participants) championship and placed 4th overall among all teams.
 

Others individual results included:  Ethan Miller 4th place (school boy, 97lbs), Carter Coghlan 3rd place (sub-bantam 40 lbs), Espen Kunze 5th (schoolboy 114 lbs), Broden Muske “true” 2nd (school boy 136 lbs) and Wyatt Maresh 5th place (sub bantam 43 lbs).
 

Representing Express Wrestling of VC in the girls   ND State Tournament were Gabby Hannig and Jayda Kunze who both placed 2nd. Gabby lost a narrow 7-4 decision in the championship match.
 

Also participating for Express Wrestling of VC were Jacob Simpson, Kallen Hansen, Jentz Kunze, Brody Metcalf, Tyson Klabo and Jaxon Sadoski.
