VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com) – Valley City State University football coach Dennis McCulloch has announced the addition for five more student-athletes to the 2018 recruiting class.
All five have signed letters of intent to continue their education and football careers at VCSU this fall. They join a group of 20 student-athletes who committed to the Viking football program earlier this year.
“We’re excited to continue building our team for the 2018 season,” said McCulloch. “Our staff continues to work hard on the recruiting trail, looking for guys who want to be Vikings and fit our team culture and university.”
The latest commitments hail from four different states. Will Rakowski is an offensive lineman from Grand Forks, N.D. He is transferring from the University of Mary.
Jamie Johnson and AJ Suesue are both wide receivers from Alaska. Riley Smieja is a running back out of Royalton, Minn., and offensive lineman Joseph Salas is a native of El Paso, Texas.
Recruiting is ongoing for the Vikings, and more additions may be announced in the coming weeks.
Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and plays in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference. VCSU is coming off a 5-5 season in 2017. The Vikings have won four conference championships in the last seven seasons and are 33-10 in conference play since 2011.
The Vikings will report to fall camp in early August and are scheduled to open the 2018 season Aug. 25 at rival University of Jamestown.
