VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Friday March 16, North Dakota USA wrestling held its annual middle school and elementary all state team qualifier in Mandan.  ND sends two teams each year to compete in Iowa in April.  First team consists of all 1st place winners of their respective weight brackets in their divisions. Elementary consist of grades 1-6 and middle school consists of grades 7-8.

Making the 1st team in the elementary division were 5th grader Koltyn Grebel (75 lbs) and 6th grader Ethan Miller (95lbs) and making the 2nd team was 6th grader Will Schwehr (140 lbs).

For the first time, North Dakota will enter a girl’s elementary team. Qualifying from Express Wrestling of VC was Gabby Hannig (58 lbs.).

For the middle school division Koye Grebel (90 lbs.) will represent Express Wrestling of VC

This will be Koltyn Gebel’s third consecutive year competing at the Heartland National duals.

The teams comprised of athletes from all across the state of ND, will compete in the Heartland National Duals on April 14-15, in Council Bluffs, IA.  These two days will consist of 4-5 duals each day, giving each wrestler about 10 matches throughout the weekend.

On Saturday March 17, two Express wrestlers additionally competed at the Black Hills National Tournament in Spearfish, SD.

Koye Grebel placed 3rd at 90 lbs and Koltyn Grebel placed 4th at 75 lbs., both in the Novice division. This tournament included wrestlers from Wyoming, SD, Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, Montana, Minnesota and North Dakota.

Express Wrestling will compete in the North Dakota dual and individual State tournaments this weekend March 23-24 in Bismarck.
