JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Orphan Grain Train (OGT) has sent a shipment to Liberia that may very well change their lives.

OGT was created years ago when a pastor traveled overseas and saw the devastation that war brought to Europe. His idea to help out led to the creation of the Orphan Grain Train. The mission of the group is to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing basic needs to individuals and groups all over the world.

In 2014, the organization set up in Jamestown, collected materials and donations to send directly to Liberia. In 2017, a shipment of books, desks and school supplies from Orphan Grain Train helped over 3,500 students.

Earlier this year, the Jamestown crew sent another shipment.

“It is always an awesome feeling to see all those boxes that have been packed over the last year loaded up and sent out,” OGT states in a recent newsletter. “On January 30th, a large crew loaded up a container headed to Liberia. The schools over there continue to grow and we continue to be blessed with items that will aid them in their mission to the children.”

The group says they were able to collect and donate 55 school desks, 11 boxes of backpacks, 448 boxes of Mercy Meals, 31 boxes of bibles, along with boxes of books, school supplies, clothing and hygiene kits.

“We had 40,000 pounds and 1,161 pieces,” the group proudly remarks.
