Roland J. Enstad, 82, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Valley City, North Dakota, passed away at his home on March 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roland James Enstad was born September 7, 1935 born in McVille, ND, to James and Crystal (Tangen) Enstad and resided in Pekin, ND. Rollie graduated from Pekin High School. It was in Pekin, he began his electrical career. He worked for his uncle, Pete Tangen, at Pekin Electric. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science. He married Mavis Flaagan in 1958. They lived in Pekin and had three children, Greg, Ken and Lisa, before moving to Valley City in 1966. Rollie began working for Grotberg Electric Inc. and eventually began contracting and became president. He retired in 1998. In the summer of 1995, two families were joined when he married Donna (Seiler). They resided in Valley City before moving to Fargo in 2011.

Rollie was a skilled craftsman and he prided himself in making faith chests which he enjoyed sharing with his friends and family. He provided many faith chests and crosses to Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City and St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo. Rollie was an avid athlete and reminisced about his baseball days in Red Willow and actively participated in softball, racquetball and golf leagues in Valley City. He was a longtime member of the Valley City Country Club and supporter of the Valley City State University Boosters. He had served as director of the ND State Electrical Contractors Board and served on the board at Faith Lutheran Church. The definition of “nice guy” is Rollie. He loved and cared about many people. He was a compassionate, proud and sensitive man. If more people in the world were like Rollie we would have a pretty beautiful place to be.

He is survived by: wife Donna Enstad, his children, Lisa (Mark) Woodbury, Greg Enstad, Kendall Enstad, grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Prevost, Katie Woodbury, Jolene Woodbury, Trevor Enstad, Tori Enstad, Heath Tessin, step-children Pam Kraft, Lori (Rick) Schulz, Mary Seiler, Joey Seiler, Lonnie (Pat) Seiler, Mark (Paula) Seiler, Penny Irmen and 21 step-grandchildren and 31 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mavis Enstad, parents James and Crystal Enstad, a sister, Kay Waldo, step-sons, Larry Kraft and Dave Irmen, a step-daughter-in-law, Kim Seiler and a step-grandson, Levi Schulz.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday, March 19 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City with a prayer service at 7 pm in the chapel. The funeral will be 11 am Tuesday, March 20, at St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo.
