BISMARCK, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  Down by eight points with about five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would come back again for the second night in a row and cut the lead to one with just under a minute remaining.  But Sophomore Guard Carson Henningsgard hit two crucial free throws with just seconds remaining to put the Burros up by three. Carrington would get the ball back and go the length of the court and put up a last second three ball to tie but Sophomore Seth Nelson couldn’t get it to fall.  The Cardinals 20 straight win streak comes to an end and they drop to 23-3 overall.  Hillsboro/Central Valley has won 18 straight and improves to 25-1.

Leading the way for Carrington was Senior Garrett Bickett with 17 points, including three 3-pointers.  Seth Nelson added 11.  For HCV, Henningsgard had 15 points, five assists and six steals.  Ryan Troftgruben added 12 points, all three’s, and Jack Camrud had 10 points and 18 rebounds.

The largest lead of the game was at halftime for the Burros, the defending champs led 31-22. There were five lead changes and two ties, Carrington committed eight turnovers, HCV committed 10.
