JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Dickey, ND woman has been charged with Driving Under the Influence after striking a traffic light in Jamestown Monday morning.
Jamestown Police Officer Pat Nelson reports the crash happened after 9:30 AM Monday morning. A witness says the woman’s vehicle was traveling westbound off of the I-94 exit ramp attempting to make a right hand turn to travel northbound on Highway 281. He says the vehicle began to travel in the wrong lane directly towards him, forcing him to honk to get the drivers attention.
That’s when the vehicle drove over the median and struck the traffic pole located at the Northeast corner of the intersection. No other vehicle was involved.
Maryanne Bitz was charged with DUI, Reckless Driving and was issued a citation for open receptacle of an alcoholic beverage. She’s currently being held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center on $750 bond.
