VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – James Marshall Sr. and Dr. George Rogler are now in the North Dakota Ag Hall of Fame.
James Marshall Sr. spent a lifetime on the family farm near Oriska, ND breeding Columbia sheep. He’s the founding father of the Columbia Sheep Breeder Association. His purebred genetics are still being used in sheep flocks throughout the U.S. He passed away in 2010. His son James Marshall Jr. had this to say about his father.
Dr. George Rogler worked as a research agronomist in Mandan, ND to develop better grass cultivars for reseeding areas eroded by wind during severe drought. He’s recognized internationally as being outstanding in the field of grassland management. The practices he developed are still being used by farmers and ranchers. He passed away in 2003. John Berdahl worked with Rogler.
Rogler and Marshall Sr. were honored during the North Dakota Ag Hall of Fame induction ceremony on March 6th at the 81st annual North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City.
