JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Spring break for the University of Jamestown begins at the end of this week. Some students will be traveling to a beach somewhere, others will be traveling home.
But some University students will be traveling to Florida to help build a house.
A non-profit organization that works in nearly 1,400 communities in the U.S. and around the world, Habitat for Humanity’s vision is “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” They do this by having volunteers help build homes all around the world.
University of Jamestown Junior Teagan Skunberg will be embarking on her third Habitat for Humanity Mission this Spring break.
This trip will take Skunberg and the other four students to Sebring, Florida for the fifth straight year. Skunberg pointed out that she’s always wanted to be a part of Habitat for Humanity.
Skunberg says Sebring has been a high priority area for Habitat after the string of hurricanes that struck the area in 2017. She says the team is looking forward to helping build two homes while they’re down there for the next week.
The students will be chaperoned by University of Jamestown Chaplin Rev. Dr. Candace Adams.
