GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A foot of snow is in the forecast for areas of southeastern and south central North Dakota through Tuesday morning.
National Weather Service forecaster Dan Riddle says many areas will see 6 to 10 inches of snow but up to a foot is possible for Valley City, Lisbon, Oakes and Jamestown.
Several schools closed for the day and other activities have been canceled or postponed for Monday.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) have extended the Travel Alert to include Bismarck, Devils Lake and surrounding areas due to icy road conditions and reduced visibility.
A Travel Alert remains in effect for northwestern, central and eastern North Dakota due to icy road conditions, accumulating snow and reduced visibility. Cities included in the Travel Alert are: Williston, Minot, Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown, Fargo, and surrounding areas. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as roadways are ice covered.
A Travel Alert means conditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas but should be advised of rapidly changing conditions. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
