JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Frontier Village Association will be urging the city to change road designation in the area for increased security.

During a recent FVA meeting, it was unanimously decided to send members of the board to the city asking for a change in code. FVA President Nellie Degen says they would like to exempt the road from being public access so they can close the gate during hours of non-operation.

With incidents of signs being stolen and horses being shot, the board has continued to look at ways to increase security. Degen says a verbal agreement a while back had been created to have the Buffalo Museum open and close the gate during the offseason.

By changing the status to have the street be “vacated” and closing the gates during the non-staffed hours, Degen says they’ll be better able to deter any theft or vandalism in the future.

FVA Board members will go before the city council tonight and ask the public who supports this be there as well. The meeting will be at 5 PM in the Jamestown City Hall.
