VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – City-County Health, Barnes County Extension, Essentia Clinic, and On The Move partners are offering an exciting new program to help those with type 2 diabetes manage the disease. The program is a series of free classes called Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP). These classes are available at no cost for a limited time.

Participants and their caregivers will gain a better understanding of:

§ The importance of how diabetes develops
§ Keeping your blood sugar normal
§ Planning meals
§ Managing medications
§ Preventing complications

The classes have proven successful and have helped patients lead happier and healthier lives.

Susan Milender-Toppen, Registered Dietitian, Lisa Clemens, Diabetic Educator, and Julia Anderson, Registered Nurse will be providing free classes at City-County Health District (415 2nd AVE NE, Valley City, ND 58072). Classes will begin on Tuesday, March 6-Tuesday, April 10 from 10:00-11:30 AM. Registration is now open. It is ideal for you to attend all six classes.
