BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Game & Fish experts are reminding residents and non-residents to keep an eye out for winterkill.
Winterkill can occur when oxygen in a body of water is used up by fish. During the winter months, oxygen production is reduced because of growing ice cover and accumulating snow on the lake. The Game & Fish Department is asking anglers who notice fish floating on the water when fishing to make note and contact their local game warden or Game & Fish Department office.
As a continuation of that, Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier is encouraging individuals to enjoy the last few weeks of ice fishing.
Catch Doug Leier every Thursday at 7:20 AM on Big Dog 95.5 FM with JD in the Morning.
