JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- A week after winning the school’s 5th consecutive Eastern Dakota Conference Gymnastics Championship, Valley City High School will head down I-94 for the two day state meet in Jamestown.

The Hi-Liners narrowly beat Grand Forks to win the conference title. They had a score of 141.1 which was just .4  better than The Knight Riders’ 140.7. For The Hi-Liners the difference came down to the beam where they had a meet best 35.575.

Though finishing first in the region has become common place for the program, the win this season had a different feel for first year head coach Chelsy Filbert and her team

 

Day 1 of state will be the team meet, Valley City currently resides in 5th. Last season they came up with a 3rd place finish. Saturday the individual meet begins at 1pm. The top 30 all around scores qualify with the top 40 event scores qualifying.

Coach Filbert says her and her team have a lot of confidence is what they can do at state this year

 

State gymnastics start at 4 on Friday with events starting at 1 on Saturday at Jamestown High School.
