JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started out as a fundraiser for the Young Professionals of Jamestown has grown into a draw for the community.

The 3rd Annual March Meltdown Volleyball Tournament is not only providing another form of entertainment for the community, but Young Professionals President Lindsey Vogel says it’s also being used as a way to draw people into the community.

The Young Professionals of Jamestown is a branch of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, providing a group for other young professionals to grow, network and make a difference in the community. Vogel says they’ve already got a lot more teams registered for this year’s tournament.

The University of Jamestown is also getting involved. Head Volleyball Coach Jon Hegerle has donated his time and players to help assist with the event, which currently has more than 20 teams registered. He says they want to make this event even bigger and show everyone what Jamestown has to offer.

Hegerle says volleyball is a great team sport and is a great event to hold to draw in people from around the region.

The tournament is set for March 3rd & 4th on the University of Jamestown campus. Teams can be either men’s, women’s, or co-ed and all players must be 18 years of age or older. Cost to register a team is $100. For more information, visit ypjamestown.com/volleyball. Listen to a full interview with Lindsey Vogel and Jon Hegerle below:
