FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Valley City basketball dropped a pair of games at Fargo Davies Friday night in their last EDC doubleheader of the season. The Eagles broke the game open in the 2nd half to take the girls’ contest 63-51. The boys’ fell behind early en route to a 96-56 loss.
Both teams play Grand Forks Central Tuesday at 7:30. The girls play at The HAC, the boys, playing in their final regular season game, play on the road. The boys game came be heard on KOVC 1490 AM/ 96.3 FM with video stream at NewsDakota.com
GBB: Davies 63 vs. Valley City 51
In a tale of two halfs, The Hi-Liners went into the intermission up 28-27 before Davies began the second half with a massive run outscoring Valley City 36-23 over the final 18 minutes.
The Eagles’ Taylor Fey scored a game high 19 points. Grace Geffre was also in double figures with 15.
Valley City had 11 points from Mackenzie Pederson and Taryn Dieterle. Lindsey Noeske, Lexi Ondracek and Grace Scherr all scored 7 each.
The Hi-Liners drop to 5-10 in The EDC
BBB: Davies 96 vs. Valley City 56
The Eagles jumped ahead early with a 45-16 advantage at the end of the 1st half. Davies was 39 for 68 from the field (57%), Valley City shot 33%. The Hi-Liners made 9 3 point baskets compared to Davies’ 8.
Riley Miller’s 16 points paced Valley City. Matthew Lyter added 13. Luther Zeltinger had 5 rebounds with 8 points.
Davies produced 4 double figure scorers. Cole Hage poured in 19, Harrison Thom had 17.
Valley City is now 2-17 in The EDC.
