WAHPETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- A first place finish in the beam helped Valley City capture their 5th consecutive Eastern Dakota Conference gymnastics championship Friday night in Wahpeton. The Hi-Liners had a team score of 141.1 to edge Grand Forks 140.7. Davies finished 3rd, Wahpeton 4th and Fargo 5th.

In the beam they had the meet high score of 35.575. They were 2nd in the vault (35.025), 2nd in the bars (34.50) and 3rd in the floor (36.00).

Jocey Kriewald was 3rd in the all around with a score of 36.05. She won both the vault (9.375) and bars while finish 4th in the floor (9.250) and 9th in the beam (8.425).

Taking 4th in the all around was Olivia Olson. Her all around score was 34.775 and her best event was beam where she scored 9.150 to finish 3rd. Olson added a 5th place finish in the vault (8.825) with 11th place finishes in the bars (7.975) and floor (8.825)

Britta Roehrich came in 2nd in the beam (9.300) while placing 5th in the all around (34.500). Roehrich was also 3rd in the floor (9.425), 13th in the vault (8.475) and 16th in the bars (7.300).

Abbey Thornton was 9th in the all around (33.450). She was 7th in the bars (8.700), 13th in the beam (7.900), 17th in the vault (8.350) and 20th on the floor (8.500).

Karina Olson competed in 2 events. She took 4th on the bar (8.825) and 6th on the beam (8.700)

The state gymnastics meet is Friday and Saturday in Jamestown.
