FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- In a span about 5 minutes Valley City celebrated 3 wins in the state tournament semifinals Friday night at The Fargodome.
David Peterson (160) and Logan Erlandson (182) almost simultaneously earned semifinal wins. They were then able to watch teammate Jake Tangen (195) punch his ticket to the state championship.
Peterson will battle West Fargo’s Jared Franek, an NDSU commit and the winningest wrestler in ND high school history, for the 160 pound state title. Erlandson, who beat the top seed at 182, faces Trevis LaRoque from Turtle Mountain. For the 195 pound title Tangen will face Matthew Kaylor from Bismarck Legacy.
Parker Larson (126), Jonathan Langer (138), Jared Undem (170) and Jaden Oestern (HWT) will wrestle on the final day of the tournament for a chance to finish as high as 3rd place.
Valley City is currently in 4th place as team, they have scored 109 points.
