MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the first time in five years, the Jamestown Blue Jays find themselves in the semifinals of the West Region boys Hockey Tournament.

Devin Hoffman and Alex Senf scored 1:16 apart midway through the third period lifting the Jays to a 4-3 win over Dickinson in the quarterfinal round of the West Region Tournament in Minot.

Hoffman scored his team leading 22nd goal of the season on the power play after Connor Fuchs stopped a clearing attempt by the Midgets. Fuchs slipped the puck to Hoffman who shot it past Dickinson goaltender Riley Wittenberg with 8:19 left in the third period to tie the game at 3.

Eighth grader Alex Senf would give his team the lead with an unassisted goal with 9:35 to go. It was the second goal of the game for Senf and the 17th of the season. His first goal gave the Jays a 2-0 lead when he scored on a penalty shot with 4.4 seconds left in the first period.

Parker Stockert started the scoring when he scored power play goal at the 12:15 mark of the first period just eight seconds into the power play. Connor Fuchs assisted on that goal as well.

Dickinson would tie the game at 2 with two goals in the second period. Brayden Groll scored at the 6:48 mark of the second period to cut the Jays lead to 2-1. Cody Shepard would tie the game with his team leading 23rd goal of the season with 1:25 left in the period. Joseph Pavek would give the Midgets the lead 2:55 into the third period with his 18th of the season.

Matthew Schneider mad 39 saves in the win for the Jays who improve to 12-9 on the season. Wittenberg stopped 30 shots for Dickinson who fall to 10-11.

Jamestown no plays Bismarck Century Friday at 5pm in Minot. The top seed Patriots downed Williston 15-1 in the first game of the day.
