BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- This past weekend the Valley City High School Hi-Liner Speech Team traveled to the St. Mary’s Central High School Capital City Lions Speech tournament in Bismark, ND.
This was a huge speech tournament with 24 schools in attendance and over 600 individual entries. It is the biggest tournament that the VCHS Speech team will travel to all year. Out of the field of 24 teams, VCHS placed 1st as a team. Dickinson was 2nd and St. Mary’s placed 3rd.
Hi-Liner speech had lots of individual success to celebrate at the tournament. Due to some events being so large, superior speaker awards were awarded to students receiving a rank of 1 and not breaking into finals or not breaking into finals on a tiebreaker. They are included in the results below.

Speech to Persuade: Abby Slyter (2nd and State Qualified on A/B split)
