CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the fifth consecutive year, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington Medical Center has been named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington scored in the Top 100 of Critical Access Hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength INDEX®. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural provider performance and its results are the basis for many of rural healthcare’s most prominent awards, advocacy efforts and legislative initiatives. The list of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals can be found at www.ivantageindex.com/top-performing-hospitals.

The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America – and the INDEX measures these facilities across eight pillars of hospital strength: Inpatient Share Ranking, Outpatient Share Ranking, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspective, and Financial Stability.

Carrington is one of several CHI St. Alexius Health hospitals named to the list of Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. In addition to CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington, CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital – Devils Lake, ND; CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson Medical Center – Dickinson, ND; and CHI St. Alexius Health-managed Linton Hospital – Linton, ND were also named to the list.

CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington celebrated its 100th year of delivering local healthcare in 2016. Originally opened as the Carrington Hospital in 1916, the hospital was leased to the Presentation Sisters of the Fargo Diocese in 1941. The Presentation Sisters joined the Catholic Health Corporation of Omaha in 1980 and later became part of Catholic Health Initiatives. In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and once again in 2018, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington has been recognized as a “Health Strong Hospital” by being one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. Additionally, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington was named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in 2014, 2016 and 2017 by the National Rural Health Association.
