VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Wednesday The Valley City State football team signed 20 new student athletes to become members of The Vikings program.

The makeup of the first group consist of mostly regional recruits with 8 from North Dakota and 6 from Minnesota. VCSU assistant head coach Gregg Horner feels they have done well so far in the state despite the difficulties that came with local recruiting

Also signed by The Vikings were players from Arizona, Texas, Washington, Alaska and Nebraska. Some of the players, like Verndale, Minnesota senior Mack Jones, have some strong VCSU ties.

VCSU expects to announce another group of commitments in the upcoming weeks. Last year The Vikings finished 5-5 on the season, they begin their 2018 campaign August 25th in Jamestown.
