St. Catherine's Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During Catholic Schools week at St. Catherine’s school in Valley City a program was held to honor Veterans and Auxiliary members on January 31st.

3rd and 4th grade students put on a program telling all about the history of our nation and facts about the U-S flag.

And during the program the 5th and 6th grade band performed “My Country Tis of Thee” and “This Land is Your Land” on the bells.

Local Veteran and VFW Commander Gary Schlegel was the guest speaker on January 31st.

In other news, spokeswoman Cayla Liebersbach said the 6th grade class raised money to purchase an AED for the school. They thanked everyone who donated money over the last year to help them purchase an AED for St. Catherine School. Alana McClellan, representing the Valley City Cardiac Ready Community helped the 6th graders set up the machine and test it. Liebersbach said this spring we will be renewing our CPR certification and the 5th graders will be getting certified at St. Catherine’s School.
