JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has taken action to hire on Sarah Hellekson as the next City Administrator.

During a special meeting Thursday, the city council met to discuss the contract to hire on Hellekson to take over the position from current Administrator Jeff Fuchs. Mayor Katie Andersen clarified that the approval of the contract would not make Hellekson a Civil Service Administrator. She will instead by a contract employee. Her salary step increases will be consistent with the salary civil-based employees in the city.

City Councilman Dan Buchanan believes Hellekson will be a good fit for Jamestown. Mayor Andersen agreed.

Hellekson will step into the position beginning February 20th. She currently works as the Solid Waste Coordinator for the city of Plymouth, Minnesota.

Fuchs plans to work with Hellekson as she acclimates herself to the position. He will officially retire March 31st.
