JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown’s Harold Newman Arena has become a bright spot for the community of Jamestown.
First announced in 2015, the Harold Newman Arena was going to set the bar high for the University of Jamestown.
University of Jamestown Athletic Director Sean Johnson points out that while the arena is used for basketball and volleyball, they hope to make it another venue the community can access and use for future events.
Johnson says the University hopes to connect with other venues in the community including the Two Rivers Activity Center, Jamestown High School and Jamestown Civic Center to bring in more events to the community. Through that, he hopes it not only brings in prospective students, but also prospective community members.
The $15.5 million center will also be used for graduation and the University’s Dine & Bid. Johnson says showing alumni the new arena has been a highlight of his.
Johnson says there’ll be a great chance for community members and families to see the arena for the first time during Family Fun Night on Tuesday, January 30th. The doors open at 5:30 PM with kids getting in free and tickets being discounted for adults.
