N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–A battle of two teams ranked in the top six of the state, Lamoure-Litchville-Marion (LLM), ranked number three in the state defeated sixth rated Carrington 43-36. The Loboes secured the top seed in the upcoming District 5 tournament with the win. Carrington had a chance to take the number 1 seed, the Cardinals needed a victory by 7 or more points to take the top seed. Edgley-Kulm-Montpeiler secured the 2 seed and the Cardinals will be the 3 seed.

LLM never trailed in the contest building a 15-8 advantage after the first quarter and a 25-14 lead at halftime. Anna Holen was the leading scorer in the game with 16 points and she added 8 rebounds. Kindra Hamlin added 12 points for the Loboes. Jackie Meiklejohn had a game high 9 rebounds, helping the Loboes to a 30-26 advantage on the boards. The Cardinals were paced by Kadyn Mehring’s 9 points. Emerson Hoornaert and Bella Hone each added 8 points. Hone also finished with 6 rebounds and Jill Endres was the Cards leading rebounder with 8. LLM improved to 15-1 overall and 5-0 in District 5 play while Carrington dropped to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in District 5 play. Carrington, ranked number six in the state poll, 4 losses are to the number 2 (MPB), number 3 (LLM), number 4 (EKM), and number 5 (Langdon-E-M). The Cards also defeated second ranked MPB as well. LLM lone loss was also to MPB. The Cardinals wills travel to Steele on Thursday night against Kidder County (receiving votes in the state poll), also defeated 5th ranked Langdon-E-M.
