BISMARCK, N. D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High basketball teams traveled to Bismarck to play St. Mary’s on Tuesday and left with a split.

The Jamestown girls basketball team hung around with the second-ranked team in the state for a while, but in the second half the Saints pulled away.
St. Mary’s outscored the Jays 31-16 in the second half. Taylor Gerving lead the way with 15 and Tonya Dvorak hit for 14.
Jamestown had two players in double-figures with Kameron Selvig and Megan Gaffaney scoring 11 each.
Jamestown lead by 11 late in the game before St. Mary’s started clawing back. A steal and a layup from Jaxon Wiseman cut the deficit to one point with 30 seconds left.
Jared Kallenbach missed the front end of a one-and-one and the Saints got a chance to win. James Schmidt missed an open look from corner. Jays’ Bryan Mosolf hit two free throws with 1.4 left.
Schmidt got a final chance to tie and missed a 50-footer.
Cole Gendreau lead the Saints with 23 on 6-23 shooting. Jamestown’s Mason Walters was on his way to a monster night before the double-teams started coming, he finished with 19.
