N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown’s search for a new Administrator continued Tuesday morning at City Hall.
Jeff Fuchs announced in 2017 that December 31st, 2017 would be his last day, prompting the city to begin the hiring process. In November, three finalists were selected after a nationwide search through the company AE2S.
In November 2017, the city approved the hiring of Chris Schilken as the new administrator. After negotiations fell through, the city was left without an auditor.
On Tuesday, the city interviewed Sarah Hellekson. She is currently the Solid Waste Coordinator for the city of Plymouth, Minnesota. Mayor Katie Andersen stated that Fuchs has agreed to retain his position through March.
The city is still advertising the position until it is filled. Hellekson informed the council that she has had experience serving in a public position.
Hellekson has also worked as the Public Works Administrator in St. Louis Park as well as Transit and Solid Waste Manager in Plymouth. Hellekson says she’s used to being a problem solver.
Hellekson says she decided to apply for the job to find something she can settle down into. Hellekson says if she is selected for the position, she would hope to bring and maintain transparency to the position.
The city of Jamestown will hope to have the position of Administrator filled before the March deadline, when Fuchs will officially step away from the position.
