N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The recent cold snap has caused some flights out of Jamestown to be cancelled.
On Monday this week, a United Express flight was cancelled on Monday and Tuesday due to equipment issues from the cold weather. The Denver to Jamestown flight on Monday landed, but the departure flight to Devils Lake that day was cancelled. Airport Manager Samuel Seafeldt says cold weather caused problems with two power units that are used to power jets on the ground and to help them start for takeoff. The vehicle that also transports flights was broke down.
Tuesday’s flights out were cancelled for the same reason. Other issues included power issues with the jet passenger bridge. Runways and taxiways were in excellent condition.
The temperatures on both Monday and Tuesday this week were in the negatives with some wind chills dropping below 40 degrees.
