N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A tree stood strong and held a truck from entering the James River in McElroy Park Thursday afternoon.

The Jamestown City Fire Department responded to the park at around 3:55 PM near the walking bridge where a vehicle had slid off the roadway and hit a tree due to the icy conditions. According to officials, smoke or steam was reportedly coming from the vehcile and firefighters doused the vehicle and disconnected the batter.

It’s unknown if the vehicle’s occupants were injured in the incident. The vehicle was considered a total loss.
