N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a 16-5 run in the second half to pull away for a 62-53 road win over Kindred Friday night.

The Hi-Liners started the fourth quarter in a 11-2 run to open up an eleven point lead, their largest of the night. The game was back and forth for most of the game with neither team having more than a five point lead.

Matthew Lyter led the way for Valley City with 14 of his team high 21 points coming in the second half. Hunter Burchill had 13 points and eight rebounds. Riley Miller chipped in ten points and six rebounds. Luther Zeltinger had a game high nine rebounds for the Hi-Liners.

Kindred was led by Andrew Freier with a game high 22 points. Keaton Rustad had nine points and Trent Duchscherer had seven for the Vikings. Freshman Gavin Keller only scored four points but had six rebounds and disrupted the Hi-Liners inside all night. The 6′ 7″ post had seven block shots.

The Hi-Liners are now 2-3 on the year and will host West Fargo Sheyenne on Tuesday night on EDC action.
