Athletic Complex

The following is a letter issued by Superintendent Josh Johnson on December 14th.

Students, Parents, and the Community,

This morning the Valley City Public School Board had a special meeting and approved a decision to continue to design an athletic complex at Hanna Field. Since hiring KLJ Engineers in November, our focus has been primarily on Track and Field, however, we have also been providing additional ideas to KLJ for the design of a multi-purpose athletic complex at Hanna Field. At this time, everything is preliminary and we received the first designs back from KLJ on Monday afternoon.

Attached with this email you will find a copy of the presentation that was shared with the school board this morning. Please note in the presentation that this project, if approved by the board, would be a multi-phase project and certain phases of this project may involve fundraising, donations, and/or sponsorships. The funding from the school district for this possible project would come from the district building funds. Please note, this project will NOT involve a building referendum (vote) and we are continuing to work with KLJ to determine estimated costs for this project.

We have scheduled public meetings for Thursday, January 4th and Tuesday, January 9th (10am& 7pm both days) in the HAC Lobby to present the project plans and answer questions from all of you, other stakeholders, and the community relative to this project. Our planning committee, administration, and school board would like to hear your input, ideas, and feedback for this potential project.

If you are unable to attend any of these scheduled meetings and would like to provide input please feel free to contact me by phone or email. I also would be more than happy to visit with you if you stop by the District Office at 460 Central Ave N.

Thank you, Mr. Johnson
