JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It could be one of the largest drug busts for the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, Sgt. Matt Thom pulled over a van for a routine stop on I-94 about 9 miles east of Jamestown. When he smelled the strong odor of marijuana, a subsequent search was held. The officer reports that the search yielded about 198 pounds of the drug. Court documents show that around $4,937 in cash was found as well.

Mae Thao, 31, of St. Paul and Xang Thao, 30, of Redding, CA were charged in Southeast District Court with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Chad Kaiser says the bust was probably the biggest in the office’s history.
